Over 20 years of providing quality print in Chattanooga – a shop that keeps on evolving.

Our History

Cy DeVilbiss

You probably know him by now. Ya see, Cy is the heart of Wonder Press. Driven by a passion for all things print – and doing it right – Cy opened Wonder Press in 2004 because he saw the gap in the local market. And beyond that, he knew that no one was going to run a print shop quite like he would. A Nashville native, Cy has called Tennessee home for a long time.

“I got into the print industry by accident. I was looking for a job when I moved back to my home city of Nashville after my wife and I had our first son, Matt. I was a buyer for an apartment supply company and wound up getting a job as a buyer for a Graphic Arts Supply dealer. I didn't know much at all about the industry but I always wanted to find out more.”

The Wonder of WonderPress

We still meet new people in the industry and the energy and excitement of those new to the process is always fun to see and to encourage. We view the relationship of us to our customers as collaborators (or co-conspirators if you prefer) in producing print projects, not just as vendor/customer.

All of the innovative things we do in the shop are a byproduct of a customer asking, "Hey, can you do this?" at some point. That is the heart of the business, we try to produce what our customers want, not just what is easy to do.

The Beginning of What Would Become WonderPress as Cy Tells It

I started WonderPress in 2004 after receiving one week's notice that myself, my wife, and our two sons would be unemployed. Back then, I had to decide if I would try to go to work for someone in sales or start a business of my own–at that time, only an idea, but one we'd been calling Blair Digital, after my youngest daughter.

We set up shop in my house with a loaner printer in the den and minimal bindery equipment in the garage. Digital printing was still fairly new when I started, but I recognized the potential for speed and complexity lacking in other types of printing.

From the beginning and for as long as I have been in the business, my first goal has always been to complete my customers projects at the best quality standard we can achieve with the equipment we have in a timely matter at a fair price.

The Future of WP

As the print industry changes and consolidation occurs, we feel that it is more important than ever to have a print provider that  can produce a wide variety of print projects in-house to fill the needs of the print community, not just the anonymous online cookie cutter solutions.

We’re constantly improving our processes, upgrading our machines, and exploring more creative solutions for our customers.

Most importantly – our relationship with the local community is at the heart of what we do. Local artists, agencies, and companies that trust us to bring their prints to life is what this is all about.

Here’s to another 20 years. Thank you, Chattanooga.

Wonder Press is the perfect printing partner for designers because they think like creatives— they are always looking to create the best possible solutions. They don’t try to fit you into cookie-cutter solutions. Their constant exploration of papers, printing techniques, die-cutting and assembly techniques is exciting and inspiring. They truly are a wonder to work with!
